This is frequently used in twosomes and threesomes. It is usually played at full handicaps and each hole is played for a "skin". The lowest net score wins the skin. If there is a tie, the skin is carried over to the next hole, which is now worth two skins. If the low score continues to be tied the skins mount on each hole.
